‘Always when I’m at Zangersheide I visit Taloubet Z in his stable. The sport results we achieved together are unbelievable. He was not the kind of horse to just hop on and ride away, but once I had won his confidence I could ask him anything. I could ride him at top speed, he did everything for me and never caused any problems. I’m so grateful I have been blessed with meeting this horse during my career. We have won so many fine events, Champion medals and Grands Prix. These were such memorable years. For me as a rider the most important thing is that after all those years in the sport my partner would be in good health when he retired, and that has worked out. He is now busy with his second successful career, as a stud stallion. Breeders who are keen to use him on their mares should know his strong points and use those. Taloubet Z was great at mustering his power and jump the most challenging fence just out of nothing. His other famous characteristic was his super fast foreleg. Those are the kind of features we absolutely need in contemporary sports. Courses become increasingly more technical and include sharp turns. Conjuring up huge capacity after such a short turn was something Taloubet Z excelled at and that made him such an exceptional horse. These are qualities also seen in his offspring and we definitely have to make the most of that!’
